Tioga County Reality Check
Youth and adults working in partnership to change the way Tioga County views tobacco use, which will increase our quality of life, help save lives, and reduce the economic burden of tobacco.
Mission
Tobacco use is the number one preventable cause of death in the United States. Reality Check is a statewide youth action program, engaged in advocacy targeting leaders and decision makers to adopt effective policy and resolutions to change social norms, which reduce and prevent tobacco use.
Activities
Develop active youth chapters, engage community members to garner support for our anti-tobacco initiatives, offer opportunities for youth leadership development, host fun youth recruitment events, utilize evidence based strategies for social norm change activities paring youth and community leaders.
Funding
Funding for the program comes directly from the New York State Department of Health, which distributes the tobacco settlement monies for the program.
