Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Herkimer County will sponsor a home gardening workshop called “Planning and Starting Your Vegetable Garden” on May 23rd at the Little Falls Library, 10 Waverly Place, Little Falls, at 6:30PM. Cornell Master Gardener Ron Smith will be assisted by Extension Educator Bernie Armata in showing you the right way to put in your plants, water, fertilize, taking soil pH and more. Although the workshop features raised bed techniques, almost all of the principles can be applied to the in-ground garden as well. Learn more about site selection, pesticides and vegetable varieties.
Ron Smith has helped hundreds of county residents over the years as Vegetable Superintendent at the Herkimer County Fair. The slide show for the presentation is based on his own experimentation and experiences. The workshop is free of charge but space is limited.
