Natural Gas Drilling Rights on Public and Private Land in New York (pdf)
Katherine E. Ziegenfuss and Duane Chapman, Department of Applied Economics and Management, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences,Cornell University
This paper uses New York State to illustrate the natural gas drilling process and to examine the issues surrounding drilling on public and private lands. Seneca and Schuyler Counties were chosen to represent the drilling situation in New York due to their mixture of private, state and federal land, including the only national forest in New York.

Attn: Katherine E. Ziegenfuss and Duane Chapman:
Your paper states no noise after drilling, however the well next to our home (Town of Jerusalem, Yates County) was very noisy after it was put into production. The well head had a pressure in excess of 2000 psi. The processor dropped the pressure down to 125 psi (to meet specs for 6″ plastic pipe used to go under Sugar Creek.) The 1500 psi pressure drop generated an incessant high frequency noise. The gas company was finally moved past the denial stage and installed a sound deadening “cabinet” around the processor unit.
When was your well drilled and by whom, DHK?
What type of income are you being paid on this well in that gross payments over the per cent of your interest in it.
What Strata?
