The State 4- H office is pleased to share the 2009 Career Explorations Conference information with you!  A pouch mailing will be coming your way this week (please look for it on Friday or when you typically get your pouch mailing).  It will include program descriptions, a letter to educators, registration details, vita template, and forms for Focus Assistants and scholarships.  We are working on the on-line registration — we’ll let you know as soon as it is posted.  Great new program options — take a look & do ask if you have any questions.

A few updates to note – 9th grade students who are returning to Career Ex MAY, once again, (if they wish) choose to be a part of a Focus for Teens program.  Not everyone is ready for that level of intense program – but we all know – some are ready to make that leap…and we want them to come back and have a positive experience.  Once again for University U this year…you will not register for a grouping of programs…just register youth for University U and list the name of one friend that they would like to be placed with.  We always end up shuffling these groups around so much…it just seems to make more sense that we will make those decisions here – and let you know.  If the teens vitas are filled out completely — we will be able to make an educated guess about placement (maybe you can use this info to get them to fill out their form)

Feel free to send your kids and families to the website so that they can do some pre-Career Ex exploration. 

One last thing….we have room for lots of teens (some counties bring 40+ teens!) at Career Ex – please DO extend this announcement and invitation beyond the “county award winner” crowd.  If you haven’t already, you may find this a great time to reach out to the Ag Educators in your county to extend this program opportunity.
