HORT 610 toolkits for training volunteers

In the fall of 2007 graduate students went through an instructional design process to each create a 2.5 hour training session to address one of the core topics for our MGV training. They met with MGV and educators, choose a subject with which they had some expertise, considered adult learning principle, presentation style and delivery techniques and then actually presented their workshops to a live audience of gardeners. From these experience they had to produce a toolkit which other educators could easily pick up and find all the material they need to replicate their workshop or a modified version of their workshop. The toolkits cover these subjects:

· Plant Pathology

· Growing Vegetables

· Pruning basics

· Plant propagation

· Weed and invasive species
