Hi Marcia,
On Sept. 24th, CCE Westchester is offering advanced training for Master Gardeners interested in school/youth gardening, a new program which interfaces aster Gardeners with CCE 4H staff providing site visits to schools at the request of teachers. Any chance your upcoming seminar in this blog can be morphed into a Phase 2 training in Spring from your end? Best, JoAnn DiRico Trautmann CCE Westchester jdt34@cornell.edu
Hi JoAnn,
Good question! I think they may be a little bit different — if I’m interpreting your question correctly. The seminar is designed to make connections. We have students on campus who feel in isolation, and we have folks in programs who are not sure how various projects and programs connect with one another. This isn’t a seminar in the formal “powerpointy” sense, but rather, is designed to connect people with similar interests.
That having been said, yes, absolutely, there could be a Phase 2 training, particularly if it is regional — lots of interest in the southeast district, and it could involve more than one county. It could be about connections in the same way this seminar series is, or master gardener volunteers, 4-H leaders, teachers, and others could identify other workshop needs. So by all means, please get in touch.
Best, Marcia
